Spielberg Hired Abrams To Restore His Super 8 Films

2 hours ago | WENN | See recent WENN news ?

Moviemaker J.J. Abrams was hired to restore the home movies Steven Spielberg made as a kid - when he was 15.

The two movie moguls have since become great friends and film partners, but Abrams can still remember the thrill he got when Spielberg asked him to take charge of the movies he made as a teenager.

Abrams tells Entertainment Weekly, "(Director) Matt (Reeves) and I were in a Super 8 camera festival, and the L.A. Times (newspaper) did an article about the festival, and there was a picture of us.

"We received a call from Steven's assistant, who said Steven's 8mm movies were in disrepair and asked us if we would fix them. If this were a movie, I'd say, 'You know the part I don't believe? That the greatest director in history would trust these kids with no beards to touch these movies of incredible significance.'"

Spielberg recalls, "All the splices were coming undone... so the most amazing thing is, now the circle has closed with the movie that J.J. wrote and directed, Super 8."

The new film - about a group of young filmmakers - was produced by Abrams' mentor.

Phineas and Ferb TV Movie to Debut in August, Promo Tour Announced!

Phineas and Ferb movie poster

It?s no secret that all of us here at GeekDad are huge fans of Phineas and Ferb. It?s easily the most intelligent cartoon show aimed at kids on TV now, and one of the top few of all time, managing to be funny in a way that doesn?t appeal (like so many kids? shows) only to the crude side of humor. So we couldn?t be more excited to join Disney in announcing the specifics of the first Phineas and Ferb TV movie,?as well as some of the awesome promotional events related to it.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension will premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, August 5 at 8:00pm ET/PT, with a sneak On Demand preview beginning on August 1. Not all the plot details have been revealed (and it wouldn?t be fun to know too much about it beforehand anyway, right?), but it seems clear that some of the main characters meet alternate-dimension versions of themselves, and that Phineas and Ferb finally discover that Perry is a secret agent. Be sure to watch the trailer and movie clip below to see what other clues you can pick up, and to whet your appetite for more. As a GeekDad, I have to add how completely awesome I think it is that the movie?s title references an excellent 27-year-old cult science fiction film that relatively few adults, let alone kids, are likely to have seen.

Now, as for the promotional side of things: Disney is never a slouch when it comes to marketing, as anyone who pays even the slightest attention to the media knows. But they?re really pulling out the stops on this one. Not only will there be a new soundtrack album, ?Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions? coming out on August 2, a DVD set containing the movie and tons of awesome extras coming out on August 23, and a Wii and DS game based on the film coming out on a date to be announced, but they are also launching a U.S. coast-to-coast promotional bus tour called, and I swear we?re not making this up, ?Perry the Platy-bus.? According to the official press release:

During ?Perry the Platy-bus On Tour,? fans are invited to marvel at nearly 4000 pounds of Perry (complete with a bill, tail and googly eyes), come aboard, play the exciting new Unity 3D video game, ?The Movie Game: The Dimension of Doooom!? and video console games, sing Perry-oke and more. During ?Perry the Platy-bus On Tour,? fans are invited to marvel at nearly 4000 pounds of Perry (complete with a bill, tail and googly eyes), come aboard, play theexciting new Unity 3D video game, ?The Movie Game: The Dimension of Doooom!? andvideo console games, sing Perry-oke and more.

Yes, it says ?Perry-oke.? Really. The bus tour will begin July 11 in New York City and move steadily westward, arriving in San Diego just in time for Comic-Con on July 21 (where yours truly will be moderating the Phineas and Ferb panel). It will also make an appearance at Disney?s D23 Expo in Anaheim in late August. The specific schedule will be announced shortly.

There will also be a new Phineas and Ferb ?interactive live entertainment experience? debuting later this month at Disney?s California Adventure and Walt Disney World?s Hollywood Studios called ?Phineas and Ferb: We?re Making a Movie.? And, in case neither Anaheim nor Orlando is convenient for you, Disney Theatrical Group will also, in late August, kick off a live touring stage show visiting more than 80 venus in the U.S. called ?Disney?s Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour EVER!?

So I think it?s safe to say this is going to be a summer in which Phineas and Ferb really do make the most of their vacation. Be sure to check back here on GeekDad for more awesome news ? and some exclusive content! ? about the movie leading up to its release. Check out page 2 of this article for two choice pictures from the movie.

iCloud Blankets Apple's Entire Ecosystem

Unlike in previous years, a new model of iPhone did not grace the stage at the 2011 Apple WWDC. But the company still had plenty to talk about. CEO Steve Jobs introduced iCloud, an upcoming service that will sync a wide variety of data across users' Mac and iOS devices automatically. The company also unveiled details about its next versions of iOS and OS X.

On one level, there were few surprises Monday as Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) kicked off its World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. As expected, it made announcements regarding iCloud, iOS 5 and OS X Lion.

On another level, though, the company provided a great deal of new information about these products, exposing broad and deep sets of new features for each.

Cupertino announced three new free iCloud services emerging from the ashes of its now-defunct MobileMe service, 200 new features in iOS 5 and more than 250 new features and 3,000 new developer APIs in OS X Lion.

The emphasis was on the post-PC experience, Apple's current buzz-phrase, and the new developments in all three areas are aimed at taking the standalone PC a day closer to obsolescence.

Take the Mac, for example. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said it will be demoted to being just another device to the cloud.

"This does put Apple back in the lead, mainly because they're really thought out the post-PC connected experience," Carl Howe, director of anywhere consumer research at the Yankee Group, told MacNewsWorld.

"I buy what Jobs said -- no one else can create this type of post-PC service that 'just works' the way Apple can, because they just don't have enough of the ingredients. Apple can and will," Howe added.

Apple did not respond to requests for comment by press time.

Concrete Details About iCloud

iCloud, Apple's new service, will store data from Apple devices in the cloud and push it wirelessly to all the other Apple devices belonging to the user. Further, it's completely integrated with users' apps.

The three core apps tied into Apple's now-defunct MobileMe service -- Contacts, Calendar and Mail -- have been re-architected from the ground up to be iCloud apps, Jobs said. iCloud service for those apps will be available at no charge to users.

Information entered into any of these three apps on any Apple device will automatically be stored in the iCloud and pushed down to these apps on the user's other Apple devices.

These free services will not carry advertisements, Jobs said.

Users' content will be automatically backed up securely to the iCloud daily when they charge their iDevices.

That automatic backup may make things easy for subscribers when they get a new device. For example, subscribers who get new iPhones just have to type in their Apple ID and password, and their content will automatically be uploaded to the device.

Other iCloud Apps

Other free iCloud-enabled apps Jobs announced include Documents, Photo Stream and iTunes.

Documents in the cloud lets users create an iWorks Pages document on any of their Apple devices that is automatically uploaded and saved to the iCloud. The iCloud will then push the document to all Apple devices that run Pages.

Photo Stream automatically uploads photos and video onto the iCloud and pushes them to a user's other Apple devices, including Apple TV. Photo Stream is built into the photo apps on all iOS devices.

Finally, iTunes has a "Purchased" button that shows users their entire purchased history of songs. Users can download purchased music multiple times on up to 10 devices at no extra charge.

Apple also announced iTunes Match, a service costing $25 yearly that will match a user's ripped music to the songs in the iTunes Store, among other things.

The iCloud offers users 5GB of free storage for mail, documents and backup. It doesn't count purchased music, apps, books or Photo Stream.

Apple pushed out a developer beta of iCloud Monday. The company also offered iTunes in the Cloud without iTunes Match as an iOS 4.3 beta that will run on existing iPhone 4s.

iCloud will ship with iOS 5 in the fall.

A Bit on iOS 5

Users will have more than 200 new features in iOS 5, and it will have more than 1,500 new APIs for developers.

Apple overhauled the notifications feature of iOS, which has been a constant source of griping among users, in iOS 5. The new version of the OS will have a Notification Center which combines all notifications, doesn't interrupt the user and is easily accessed.

Another new feature is iMessages. This lets users send text messages, photos and videos automatically between all iOS devices over WiFi or 3G with secure end-to-end encryption.

iOS 5 will also have a digital newsstand that will offer automatic background downloads.

Another new feature is single sign-on, so users don't have to log into every app they access.

Further, iOS 5 will integrate Twitter with Camera and Photos.

The iOS 5 beta and SDK were made available Monday for iOS Developer Program Members.

iOS 5 will be rolled out as a free software update to users in the fall.

Hear OS X Lion Roar

Mac OS X Lion will have more than 250 new features and 3,000 new developer APIs.

It will be available to customers in July as a download from the Mac App Store at US$30.

New features include multitouch capabilities; system-wide support for full screen apps; Mission Control, which lets users see everything running on their Macs; Launchpad, a new home for apps; and a redesigned Mail app.

The Mac App Store is built into OS X Lion.

The operating system has an Autosave feature that continuously saves documents. A Versions feature automatically records the history of a document as it's being created and lets users browse, revert to a previous version or copy and paste content from previous versions into current documents.

Mac OS X Lion also includes the Resume feature, which lets users resume working in an app where they left off when they restart their Macs or quit and relaunch an app.

OS X Lion also will include AirDrop. This will find nearby Macs and automatically set up a peer-to-peer WiFi connection so users can transfer files easily.

Clobbering the Competition - for Now

Apple's melding all iDevices into a family linked by the cloud is "the normal evolution towards providing more convenient service on mobile devices," Harry Wang, director of mobile and health research at Parks Associates, told MacNewsWorld.

Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) currently can't match Apple's seamless delivery to multiple devices because "they're dealing with a broad array of systems and devices," but they won't be left behind for long, Wang suggested.

"Google has already said the upcoming version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, will combine tablet and smartphone capabilities," Wang pointed out. "That leads to the possibility of Google having another cloud with the Android Marketplace from which it will push content to Android devices."

Did X-Men: First Class Live Up to Its Title? And How'd Those Other Sequels Do?

Should Cars 2, the new Transformers and even Harry Potter be nervous?

So far, the summer box office has brought mixed results for big-budget franchises: The new Pirates of the Caribbean did and didn't wow; Kung Fu Panda 2 lost weight; The Hangover Part II opened huge, then dropped like Death to Smoochy; and the?Hugh Jackman-free X-Men prequel?

Well, let's just say X-Men: First Class didn't live up to its subtitle.

RELATED: Five reasons you're watching TV (and not going to the movies)

The flick, which swapped the likes of Jackman and Anna Paquin for James McAvoy and January Jones, had an OK weekend, grossing $120 million worldwide off its $160 million budget.?

Domestically, though, First Class was a fourth-class citizen.

Its $56 million Friday-Sunday take, while more than enough to top the weekend competition, marked the smallest opening for an X-Men sequel or prequel. It barely outgrossed the original X-Men movie which opened a million years (and price hikes) ago.

And so it goes this summer.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is shaping up as the lowest-grossing Pirates sequel (and, understood, lowest-grossing is a relative term for a film that's made nearly $800 million worldwide). Kung Fu Panda 2 is running tens of millions of dollars behind the pace of Kung Fu Panda. And even The Hangover Part II, $186.9 million domestic haul and all, is looking shaky.

In its second weekend, ticket sales for Part II plunged 62 percent. At the same time in its run, the original Hangover slipped less than 30 percent. In fact, during the six long months it was in theaters, the 2009 comedy never fell more than 45 percent from weekend to weekend.

So, does this mean audiences are already sick of the summer's reruns, redos and reboots?

Arguably, there's room in the numbers for that interpretation. Brad Pitt's Part II-eschewing The Tree of Life remained the hottest ticket around, grossing $620,772 from 20 locations. The no colon- or subtitle-requiring Bridesmaids broke $100 million domestically (off a $32.5 million budget). And Midnight in Paris, from the sequel-adverse Woody Allen, grossed more money, screen for screen, than X-Men: First Class.?

Then again, sequels and prequels are the reason the box office was up (a lot) over the same weekend last year?and Cars 2, the new Transformers and Harry Potter have nothing to worry about.

Probably.

Here's a complete look at the top-grossing films, per Friday-Sunday estimates as compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

  1. X-Men: First Class, $56 million
  2. The Hangover Part II, $32.4 million
  3. Kung Fu Panda 2, $24.3 million
  4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, $18 million
  5. Bridesmaids, $12.1 million
  6. Thor, $4.2 million
  7. Fast Five, $3.2 million
  8. Midnight in Paris, $2.9 million
  9. Jumping the Broom, $865,000
  10. Something Borrowed, $835,000

Evolve III prices triple-booting Maestro S and swiveling Maestro C tablets, unveils cordless NGen desktop (video)

We knew Evolve III had some major plans in store for this year and now, we've found out a little more about the company's latest creations. First up is the Maestro S -- a triple-booting slate that, as promised, can now support Android, Windows 7 and Meego. Rocking a 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, the Maestro is powered by an Intel Z670 Oak Trail processor clocking in at 1.5GHz and runs on a battery that can last for up to ten hours per charge when running on Windows 7, or up to 18 hours when in Meego mode. The Maestro C will give you all of this, plus that swiveling kickstand we heard about last month. Designed with frequent flyers in mind, the convertible tablet also comes with a wireless keyboard that can serve as a protective, hardshell case.

Rounding out the troika is the NGen -- a next-generation, "all-in-one" PC, powered by an Intel Core i7 Sandy Bridge CPU. The WiDi-enabled desktop boasts a 21.5-inch, 1920 x 1080 LED, supports Intel HD graphics and packs a 2.0-megapixel, front-facing camera. Weighing in at a little under 13-pounds, the cordless NGen can be folded up for quick transport, or mounted on a wall. Content can also be synced across all three devices, with a Wormhole connecting cord. As far as pricing goes, the Maestro S and C are running for 800 AUD (about $860) and 825 AUD (around $886), respectively, while the NGen, according to an Evolve III representative, will retail for about $1,500 of the green stuff. Unfortunately, this lineup won't be available Stateside until later this year, but you can find out more in the video that awaits you, after the break.

[Thanks, Nicholas]

gaydgu - Arts and Entertainment from EzineArticles.com

When learning how to draw a face you need to understand the structure, proportions and the various parts that make up that face. Before I offer you some kind of guideline for the structure, proportions and the various parts of the face, I need to make it clear, that whilst it is really important to get a good understanding of the components that make up the face, it is not an exact science by any means. If you have ever researched the topic you'll know what I mean, you'll find there is a lot of conflicting information and many offering some kind of proof to back up their own particular theory. I am sure no one is deliberately trying to mislead us of course; I believe it is because humans are very diverse beings and there are just so many variables to take into account.

SIP Service for Your Business Communications | Voip Telephone Systems

A company can adopt SIP Trunking service only when it has the assistance of a SIP service supplier. SIP service is an improved technology that assists in the development of the World wide web. It helps to make the quality of phone calls better.

A major company generally has its own Private Branch Exchange (PBX). This system controls the telephone calls made and moderates them to a particular degree. This is done to all incoming and outgoing calls. As a result of this system, the quality of calls enhances to a great degree.

LET US UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM WITH THE HELP OF AN EXAMPLE:

The SIP service system is a complex one and is not simple to grasp. In order to comprehend this system fully, consider the instance.

An employee working in a specific company makes calls to a particular number. Most of the phone numbers that exist fall under the category of PSTN or Public Switch Telephone Network or the typical telephone systems that operate. When calls are made from a company owning a SIP provided company, the IP of the call is adjusted so that it is capable of mimicking the quality of the PTSN number.

Thus, it seems so that the incoming call is made by a different phone which is of the same network service company. As a consequence of which, the charge of the calls lessen. The company making the outgoing call profits to a great degree. The communication system also enhances in a company where this service is set up.

IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL AN SIP SERVICE PROVIDER, HOW TO GO ABOUT IT:

If you want to fix an SIP service provider inside your company, it can be done very simply. There are a number of service providers which supply this facility. How will you pick and choose? You should find out facts about the service providers who are located in the vicinity of your company. Proximity of the service provider to your company is very important. The best service provider for you will be judged on the basis of the physical proximity of the service provider to your company.

Once you are completed fixing this, investigate into the quality of service that is offered by those whom you have sorted out on the basis of proximity.

A good reputation in the market and a high rating are the 2 premises on the foundation of which you can judge an SIP service provider. Ask other people about the advantages and the disadvantages of the services that they are obtaining from the service providers.

A third factor is an equally critical premise that you must think about. The affordability of the service provider is a essential concern that determines whether you will go for it or not.

Aromatherapy Bottle | ArticleEffort.com

Aromatherapy Bottle

Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to feel revitalized because of the stresses brought about by work or by the people at home. While some may want to do this treatment in the spa, others who are budget conscious can have the same treatment done at home.

This is because there are a lot of stores that sell aromatherapy oils. Each of these liquids are extracted from plants and trees and placed into 10ml. bottles. The person will notice that most of the containers are dark so that it will not get exposed to the light that can damage the contents inside.

If the particular oil that the customer is looking for is currently not available, the person can always try looking for this online since there are various websites that advertise these products. The individual will just have to wait a few days before this can be shipped to the home.

Lately, manufacturers have produced something else that can help aromatherapy. Instead of opening the lid and having oily fingers, people have decided to put a sprayer on top. This allows the person to apply the oil to certain parts of the body keeping the bottle free of oil deposits.

Aromatherapy bottles may be purchased separately or in kits. Each one has a product description of the oil including where it is most effective. For example, a bottle of lavender oil is great in treating anxiety and stress while peppermint is great to relieve a clogged nose.

First timers will also be happy to know that each bottle or kit purchased comes with a set of instructions. The person will be able to learn a thing or two of the type bought and can do more research later on given that there more than 60 essential oils.

The oils in the bottles don?t always have to applied to the skin. Sometimes smelling it in the air is just enough to make one relax. The individual will need a burner for this, which usually comes with a small candle in the bottom.

If the individual is already familiar with the various oils, instead of using a bottle, the person can try getting aromatherapy in its other forms. These include bath salts, candles and soap which can also be used to the achieve the same results.

Someone who has grown fond of aromatherapy can even make a living out of it. There are some schools that offer courses on this and that person can make a business out of it. The individual should just learn the basic properties of each, know how to mix it and then package the idea by setting up shop or becoming a distributor to out retail outlets.

Aromatherapy can be applied whenever the person needs it because there is no danger of overdose, which happens often with conventional medicines. Since a 10ml. bottle can be consumed quickly, sometimes just opening and inhaling this is more than enough to make anyone feel better.

If the individual?s supply is running low, it will be a good idea to go back to the store and buy a new batch of bottles.

Those who are familiar with one can probably try something else in the shelf since all of the oils in the display shelf can do one or more functions like relieving a headache, declogging the nose or relieving muscle pain.

Book Review: ?What Paul REALLY Said About Women?

John Temple Bristow?s book? What Paul REALLY Said About Women, was recommended to me by the most unlikely of sources, my friend Lorena. I am quite appreciative of that fact and she knows exactly why. (Enter conniving laugh sound effect). All inside jokes aside, the?book itself challenges the traditional and literal interpretations of St. Paul?s letters. Notorious for their controversial and seemingly anti-feminine principles, St. Paul?s letters in the New Testament have been perceived as incompatible with the contemporary values of modernity and equality of the sexes. Bristow counters this perception by grafting his arguments in the themes of linguistic and historic-cultural contexts (although he emphasizes linguistics to a greater degree). Linguistically, he postulates and demonstrates quite successfully that the English language could not possibly reflect the true message Paul was trying to convey about women. He illustrates that the English translation of the New Testament is so non-reflective of the original manuscripts, that if it were to be translated back into Greek, the message would not accurately reflect the message of the original Greek. Secondly, Bristow maintains that ancient scholars who originally interpreted and translated the scriptures were heavily steeped in the principles espoused by ?Greek philosophy which was dominant at the time. Greek philosophy, although celebrated as a foundational heritage of western civilization, was ironically and profoundly misogynistic. Centuries later, church leaders who were knowledgeable and influenced by Greek traditions by virtue of their education, allowed Greek customs and perceptions to influence their interpretations of St. Paul?s teachings. By drawing on linguistic and historical-cultural readings of scripture, Bristow posits that in fact, St. Paul was an active proponent of equality who actively shunned the profound inequality of Judaic, Roman and Greek cultures.

Although contextual readings have gathered a negative reputation in some Christian circles due to its association with ?progressive? or ?liberal? christianity, the practice of ?reading the bible in its context? is one which must be achieved, otherwise scripture cannot be applied to modern life. One of the issues Bristow contends with, are verses in 1 Timothy which forbid women to teach or hold authority over men. Although many evangelical churches have come to disregard such verses, other fundamentalist churches adhere to them adamantly. The book makes the argument that St. Paul revolutionized worship services when he first allowed women to participate, and secondly when he encouraged them to learn the faith. This was without parallel at that particular time, and could have drawn some criticism from Christian Jews, Greeks and Romans. Considering opposition that could have ensued as a result, Paul chose a strategic route where he maintained that women should be educated in matters of faith but conceded that women were not to teach or hold authority over men. There could have been other reasons to this, including the fact that women were previously not as educated in matters of faith and doctrine to be able to lead ?(remember women had only begun to be part of worship services). Alternatively, a literal interpretation of St. Paul?s words runs into problems when compared to modern social customs. Today (at least in western society), women can become teachers or professors, and they can pursue careers where they hold authority over men such as doctors, judges and CEOs of large private firms. Some fundamentalists would bristle at this and claim that first, St. Paul?s words were referring exclusively to leadership in church environments due to the propensity of women to be spiritually weaker (I HAVE heard this before), and secondly, scriptures are timeless and should not be tampered with using ?contextual readings?.

Beginning with the most absurd of the two, if women were spiritually inferior, would they have been present at Pentecost? Why would they be able to inherit the same spiritual gifts as men? And how were they able to endure horrific tortures at the hands of Romans and sometimes, martyrdom? In regards to the second argument, it must be realized that cultural practices and conventions often change. Whereas acts of war, and acts which resembled genocide were socially acceptable in the Old Testament, they are not today. Another example of this (not mentioned by Bristow) is the practice of ancient slavery. Today the same practice is abhorred and seen as socially unacceptable by all Christians regardless of denomination?even though scripture never denounced it formally. This illustrates that even fundamentalists cannot be consistent in applying literalist interpretations today due to their incompatibility with modern ways of living. Scripture must always be read in the context in which it was written, otherwise inconsistencies will frequently arise.

While Bristow?s treatise dealt primarily with outmoded perceptions Christian doctrine may hold towards women, it also underscored the point that scripture should not be approached as a comprehensive book of codified religious law. In other words, it should not be approached in a literal way. One must be cognizant of the reality that there are linguistic differences between ther contemporary versions of scripture and the original Greek. In addition, there must be a realization that cultures shift significantly.

Auto repair-Planning Your Honda Engine Build

Honda engines are very popular amongst tuners. One reason is that there is a huge after market for

diabetes Honda parts such as radiators, harauto parts ness, engine mounts, etc. Basically any part that you can name there are various options available. The most popular Honda cars are the Honda Civic, Acura Integra, and Honda CRX/Del Sol. These cars were made with interchangeable parts that can be swap back and forth in between models.

Before starting your build it is important to have a good car frame. Things to look out for are rust. The body should be clean and free of any oxidation. Other things to look out for are frame damage. A lot of times a salvage titled car was repaired and contain frame damage that can be a s
auto repair glass erious risk to the driver. In other words, avoid cars with frame damage. Check the weld joints under the hood. They should be located next to the left and right headlights. Make sure that the radiator lines up with the chassis. Also, stand behind the rear of the car and look underneath the body. Are the front and rear wheels lining up properly? They should, and make sure to check for that. Check the body panels to ensure that there are no uneven gaps in between the
skin tags m.

Once you have
oral diseases the car that you are g
dent repair oing to build, now its time to designate a budget. A good build with a fully built engine that is properly tuned can run upwards of $10000 or more. So figure out what you want. Is your budget low or high? There are three basic ways to build your Honda for speed.

Forced Induction, all motor, and spray.
autozone Forced Induction is basically adding a turbocharger to your engine. The price can be moderate, ranging from three thousand to five thousand dollars depending on the compression. Forced induction also gives the biggest gains for a relatively low price. Some modifications are needed to support a turbocharger namely an upgraded oil system, a fuel system with a bigger pump, a larger transmission cooler and radiator. On a side note, most turbochargers last around 50,000 miles and they need to be replaced.

Spray, or Nitrous Oxide in your car, is the cheapest modification in your car. Warning, nitrous oxide ruins your cars engine. What NOS does is that it increases compression in your engine by increasing the potency of the spark delivered in the combustion chamber. That extra force that pushes the pistons upwards is what delivers the power. Nitrous Oxide, over time, damages the pistons as well as the exhaust system directly because of the extra emissions generated after combustion. Besides that, however, Nitrous Oxide is the cheapest alternative. Just plug and play a bottle of fuel to your fuel delivery system and that is all. Cost less that 500 dollars.

My favorite build, which is why I saved it for last, is the all motor build. It also tends to be the most expensive. What an all motor build is, is taking your existing engine and transmission, and replacing the cams, pistons, lifters, springs, rods, bearings with more durable and higher resistant replacements. This can add significant horsepower in that it allows you to increase the engine displacement and compression at the same time. In the transmission, you are replacing the clutch and flywheel for lighter and more resistant to wear alternatives. Honda engines take this a step further by being completely interchangeable between makes and models having the same engine series. For example a d series engine can be swapped for another d series and still maintain the same drive train or part can be shared from a b series engine. This is done to increase compression. B series engines, the center of attention for most serious Honda engine builders, can be built to withstand over 400 horsepower.

Rogers Find Canada's Got Talent After America's Got Talent Debut Pops

TORONTO -- Canadians like America?s Got Talent so much, broadcaster Malcolm Dunlop has licensed a local version from Fremantle Media for Spring 2012 to find Canada?s Susan Boyle or Jackie Evancho.

Like Victor Kiam, who bought Remington Products because he liked their electric shavers, Dunlop, executive vp of programming at Rogers Media, created Canada?s Got Talent for his Citytv network after the NBC talent show scored with local viewers.

Tuesday night?s two-hour America?s Got Talent premiere improved 39 per cent in the key 18-49 demo in Toronto, securing a 5.3 rating.

Nationally, America's Got Talent secured 1.49 million total viewers, and grew 35 per cent in the A18-49 demo, according to BBM Canada data.

"This season premieres ratings increase demonstrates the appeal the series has for Canadians across the board and we feel viewers will really embrace Canada's Got Talent,? Dunlop said.

Toronto-born Howie Mandel being a judge on America?s Got Talent helps explains the NBC show?s appeal in Canada, and Rogers Media?s decision to bring indie producer Insight Productions on board to make Canada?s Got Talent.

Insight Productions produced Deal or No Deal Canada, hosted by Mandel and licensed from Endemol USA, for Global Television after the Canadian broadcaster did well by NBC?s Deal or No Deal on its schedule.

Insight Productions executive producer John Brunton is hoping Mandel can host Canada?s Got Talent, depending on his availability.

Meanwhile, Rogers Media is promoting America?s Got Talent to the hilt, with Jackie Evancho in Toronto this week to sing for Canadian advertisers at the broadcaster?s Upfront presentation on Monday, followed Tuesday by an outdoor performance in front of 5,000 Torontonians.

Chelsea Handler's Split Personality; May Be 'Done With This Show'

This story appears in the current issue of The Hollywood Reporter:

It's a late-March day, and Chelsea Handler is sitting behind a schoolteacher-inspired desk scribbling away on a pile of papers preparing for that afternoon's back-to-back tapings in Los Angeles of E!'s hit show, Chelsea Lately. As a hairstylist works her signature TV-worthy coif, Handler lifts her gaze momentarily and offers a reporter a drink: "We've got lemonade, and we've got water." The best-selling author of Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, an ode to alcohol -- some would say addiction -- does not keep a martini bar anywhere nearby.

PHOTOS: The evolution of Chelsea Handler

Handler is distant but cordial. "This is my dog, Gina," she deadpans, pointing to the woman standing behind her. "And this is my hairstylist Chunk," she motions to the 100-pound brown and black mutt sleeping at her feet.

It's 1 p.m., and Handler is reviewing the two opening monologues she'll be performing and is editing blog posts writer Sarah Colonna drafted. A self-proclaimed control freak, Handler demands signoff on every decision. Her schedule fluctuates pending on her touring, but when in Los Angeles, she maintains a strict routine: 9 a.m. writers meeting; 11 a.m. workout and shower; 1 p.m. hair and makeup while editing, writing and rewriting; 4 p.m. taping.

"I have final say in everything I'm a part of, whether it's Chelsea Lately or my books and my stand-up," says Handler. "That [kind of power] doesn't happen a lot. And I didn't know it didn't happen until it happened to me and I realized I was the only one."

Something then catches her eye. It's Vanity Fair's May cover of a shirtless Rob Lowe, and her hairstylist has uncovered it on the makeup vanity. "Really, Graydon?" she says witheringly, with disdain, referring to VF editor Graydon Carter.

I inquire about the cover and ask to see it too. "Would you like a few minutes in private, Leslie?" she says with a small smile.

I can't tell -- am I being made fun of? Or is it just girls joking around? Am I in on the joke or the butt of it?

It's uncomfortable.

But that's Chelsea's charm. Isn't it?

?????

Later that day, there's just one hour to go before taping will begin on this day's Chelsea Lately. A production assistant enters Handler's second-floor office without so much as a knock to discuss an opportunity that has surfaced: Victoria's Secret swimsuit models. After a last-minute cancellation on Ellen, the company is looking to book three of its models (led by Adriana Lima) on that afternoon's taping of Lately to promote its new Miraculous Push-Up swimwear line.

"What would they do?" Handler snipes. "Sit next to [3-foot-7 sidekick] Chuy in bathing suits? Adriana Lima is a pretty big-time model. Wouldn't that be a little embarrassing?"

None of the three or so employees around her says anything as they await her decision. After taking a few moments to mull it over, Handler dismisses the idea with a wave of her hand.

"Tell them it's too late," she says tersely. "I don't really need Ellen's scraps." Another hint of a smile creeps across her lips.

To know Handler is to know that Ellen just got off easy. With a reputation as a grenade-throwing outsider (not too many A-listers can claim their first book was about their one-night stands) but a career resembling that of an insider, the 36-year-old comedian has engaged in headline-generating spats with everyone from Nick Cannon ("just heard nick cannon is starting a comedy tour," she tweeted in October. "Who's going to do the comedy?") to Tori Spelling ("I'm going to try my hardest not to tell her she looks like a man anymore. It's not nice. Even if it's true, it's not nice."). Late last year, the stand-up superstar -- who is in the midst of a 21-city tour of single-night engagements to promote her newest best-seller Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, a jaunt that will gross $6.5 million -- made gossip websites explode after scorching Angelina Jolie. "She can rescue as many babies from as many countries as she wants to," Handler said onstage in Newark in December. "I don't f--king believe you. ? She gives interviews, 'I don't have a lot of female friends.' Cause you're a f--ing c--t ? you're a f--ing bitch."

Sometimes, her bombshells are more personal in nature. In late May, Handler told a reporter from The New York Times that she had had an abortion when she was 16. "I'm pretty candid," she explains a few days later. "I'm not interested in hearing celebrities lie about stuff like that. I'm not proud of having an abortion, its just part of the fabric of my life. There's no reason to hide it."

Clearly, Handler the provocateur and Handler the businesswoman are two different entities. The latter, currently in the throes of contract negotiations with E!, of which she speaks openly, is not someone who makes random slips of the tongue; like any gifted comedian, Handler deploys shocking statements that only seem spontaneous, wild, dangerous. They are designed to generate the kind of attention that makes fans -- and Handler's are legion -- want to pay $60 a ticket to sit in anticipation, wondering just what in the world will come out of her mouth next. Thanks to that filterless relationship with her audience, Handler has built the rarest of creations in Hollywood: a female comedy empire (perhaps second only to Tina Fey's). Her fourth book, Lies, is resting comfortably, as of press time, at No. 3 on The New York Times best-seller list (hardcover nonfiction), and at NBC's recent upfront, E!'s new sister network announced it had ordered to series Handler's Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, based on her 2008 best-seller, as a midseason replacement.

Through her late-night show (which dominates the coveted women 18-to-34 demographic and has a median age of 33) and 3.5 million Twitter followers, Handler has cultivated a loyal fan base of women who love her willingness to say what everyone else is thinking. "She'll poke fun at anyone, but she's also not afraid to poke fun at herself," says Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. "That makes her vulnerable, open and funny and gives her permission to do the same to others."

That freewheeling making-hay-of-everyone formula is great for late-night but is somewhat uncharted turf for a play-it-safe network like NBC. "Part of what we need to do at NBC is to get people to know that we're doing things different and a little more in-your-face," explains entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. He says the goal of the series is to embrace Handler's caustic barbs without driving away viewers. "I think when you get into business with somebody whose voice you like, you need to let it go out there unfettered. She's smart enough to know that she's doing a mainstream network television show and there are things she would want to do that probably don't make sense in the bigger landscape."

And there are fewer bigger question marks in cable at the moment than what exactly that landscape is. Currently, Handler is knee-deep in negotiations with E! as the clock winds down on her contract that expires at the end of 2012 (it was extended in 2009). As nearly 1 million Lately loyalists continue to tune into her top-rated talk show (her nightly ratings come in fourth on the network behind the seasonal Kardashian-themed weekly series, Kendra and Holly's World), E! is scrambling to find a way to keep Handler on its payroll, even as it looks to expand its scripted programming under Hammer. "I'm sorry that we weren't able to do Are You There Vodka? for E!," says Hammer, laughingly adding, "and so the second-best choice is to do it for NBC. At least in my mind; Bob probably disagrees." For her part, E! president of entertainment programming Lisa Berger isn't afraid to show her hand. "Our hope is that we have a long relationship and that she continues to be one of the most important faces for our network. We're working with her to craft something where everyone wins."

Still, the comedian's future with both E! and her Lately mothership, whose bread and butter remains the celeb-fueled gossip Handler admits she has grown to deplore, remains far from clear. "We'll see how it goes and if it works out for me to stick around here," Handler says, without a trace of emotion. "It's a lengthy process. They tell you you're valuable, and then you get a counter and you think, 'I guess you really don't care about me at all.' Nothing is set in stone, so if things go south, then obviously I'll be moving along."

So what would Handler -- who brought in more than $40 million in ad revenue for the network in 2009 -- do next? She says she and her production partner Tom Brunelle are weighing those options carefully as they grow their newly minted production company, Borderline Amazing. Says Handler: "I talked with Bonnie about how I see myself growing as a producer and a performer. I'm not one to plan ahead, but I don't want to be doing the same thing for five more years."

Adds Brunelle: "We're not really sure what's going to happen, but we've got 18 months to figure it out. We're never going to have a drama department; we're comedy people. We're developing plenty of shows. Whatever it is, it has to be funny." Handler has shown a knack for finding, nurturing and supporting other talent, be it Whitney Cummings or Ross Mathews, both of whom have developed pilots with Borderline.

Greenblatt says Handler "could do more for us on NBC, whether it's late-night or primetime." But Handler isn't so convinced. In fact, it's not something she even wants.

"The next step for me is not The Tonight Show," she says. That's a job for Jimmy Fallon. I'm way too divisive for a show like that."

Her definition of what is funny, though, seems to be in some sort of existential flux. "I want to do something that's going to utilize my brain a little more than this show," she says. "If Lately is the show that I'm going to do, it's going to change. But it may turn out that I'm done with it altogether. I can't keep doing the same thing; my brain is bleeding. I want to do something that's more mindful and isn't celebrity-centered. I'm not looking to totally bail on E! They've done a lot for me, and I like it here." Beat. "If you take away the Kardashians."

With a bank account brimming at $22 million and seven-figure checks coming in annually from her three previous best-selling books, Handler built a fortune lambasting the very inner circle in which she increasingly resides. Her 30-minute show won fans with an original recipe: a format that includes a self-deprecating opening monologue, celebrity interviews -- which recently has acquired a higher caliber of talent, including Handler pals Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon -- and a roundtable of Handler sidekicks she refers to as "misfits" who dissect the most ridiculous celebrity gossip. After 700-plus episodes, Handler is no longer just the wry outsider. Even after she was critically panned for her September 2010 MTV Video Music Awards hosting job ("You have to be an idiot to not know that was going to happen," she says), the show nabbed its highest ratings since 2002 (11.4 million viewers), becoming the third-most-watched MTV telecast ever.

Thus Handler is now in the fantasy mode of her career -- the part where you are so rich, so successful, that you can step off the treadmill and reassess. "I want to do something people aren't expecting from me," she says. In a nod to her current employer, the woman who cites Gloria Steinem and Fran Lebowitz as role models, adds: "I want to educate people and deliver news that isn't just surrounded by Charlie Sheen. I'd like to be able to do the serious stuff in conjunction with the comedy. I'd like to make an impact and have more responsibility than I do now."

Hammer, in her first discussion of what is ahead at E!, says there will be room for what Handler is seeking. "I would say that E! is a wide-open book right now in terms of where we go," she says. "We're about to launch into what I call a brand audit, not dissimilar to what we did at USA seven years ago, to figure out what E! is right now. E! is very successful, it's not broken, but the goal is to do to E! what we did to USA -- take it from a successful channel and have it just completely break out. I'm a big believer that E! can be a top 10 cabler, maybe even top five, in the not so distant future." She adds, "As we look at where the brand can go, Chelsea may be able to play a wonderful part in that. I don't know what that means yet in terms of new formats and points of view, but we will not be going downscale but instead moving to kind of a broad, upscale, fresh tone. There are a lot of possibilities."

And so it is that Handler's show, perhaps reflective of its host's celebrity fatigue, may seem a wee gentler lately. Once the voice of her nightly roundtable that unleashes on the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Handler now acts as a sounding board -- allowing her panelists to throw the necessary punches audiences as Handler interjects with an occasional one-liner either at her own or her comics' expense.

Four years ago, Handler joked to an audience: "Katie Holmes [said] Tom's turned on by the sight of her in a suit and miniskirt. Tom also likes it when she wears the monitoring bracelet on her ankle." Would she do the same joke today? Probably.

"I only have talked about people that I think are acting irresponsibly or are making fools of themselves," she says, putting her face in front of her dog Chunk and receiving a lick on the nose. "There's no reason to talk about Reese Witherspoon. I've never talked about those people and anyone I've become friends with. I'm not going to be friends with them if they're idiots in the first place."

And in her mind, she knows who the idiots are and the distance she wants to keep from them.

"Jennifer [Aniston] said she saw the Kardashians at dinner last night," Handler says. "She was like, 'They're nice.' And I said: 'Don't get photographed with the Kardashians!' People will blame me for it!"

?????

Blessed with a knack for one-liners at an early age, Handler headed to Los Angeles from Livingston, N.J., at 19 to pursue an acting career. The youngest daughter of a Mormon mother, who passed away in 2005, and a Jewish car salesman father, she says: "I wanted to be famous. It's embarrassing to admit, but I came out to L.A. thinking it would happen in no time," Handler says with a snort. "I thought, 'Once they see me, they'll be so glad I came.' I always had a ridiculous amount of self-confidence about what was going to happen to me."

But like many fame-seekers before her, Handler was met with the harsh reality of Hollywood and quickly wound up waiting tables at Le Petit Four on Sunset and the old Morton's steakhouse on Melrose. After nearly three years of failed auditions and answering cattle calls ads in the pages of Back Stage West, Handler decided it was time to do something to differentiate herself.

"It doesn't hurt to be attractive, but I thought about what I could do that would give me my own voice," Handler explains. With a sharp tongue from a young age, Handler -- who enjoyed comedy as a child -- began developing a stand-up act at a friend's suggestion. "I didn't know at the time it would totally dictate my career," she says.

In 2002, Handler, then 27, landed a role on Oxygen's hidden-camera sketch comedy series Girls Behaving Badly and quickly realized her own behind-the-camera potential. "I remember knowing what would work and what would be funny, but I still had to answer to these guys," Handler recalls. "I thought, 'This is never going to work for me.' "

Handler spent the next five years angling for guest spots on series including My Wife and Kids and The Bernie Mac Show and managed a fairly stable gig as a quick-witted, hyper-snarky talking head on a variety of E! countdown shows. Eventually, Handler caught the eye of Harbert, and he plucked her out in 2006 to create an original series for the network, The Chelsea Handler Show. At the time he developed the concept with Handler, E! was floundering with reality shows such as The Simple Life 4 and Gastineau Girls.

"Immediately, Ted noticed her and felt she had this unique comedic voice," says Berger. "We wanted to try and find the right vehicle for her on our network and ended up developing a weekly show."

The show was short lived, as the network canceled the series after its first-season run and created the idea for Chelsea Lately. Around the same time, Harbert and Handler began their four-year relationship (it ended in January 2010).

Handler teamed up with future production partner Brunelle, then a producer on MTV's Your Face or Mine?, to create the 12 episodes of The Chelsea Handler Show that would evolve into her nightly talk show and where Handler would become the boss she craved to be. Chelsea Lately premiered in July 2007 and after only one year on air was averaging more than 500,000 viewers at 11:30 p.m. In February 2009, Handler moved up to the 11 p.m. slot and developed a cultlike following that averages 1 million viewers. "There are little spikes here and there, but we have pretty steady ratings," she says. "Our same audience shows up five nights a week."

Handler, whose audience is overwhelmingly female (more than 80 percent of her viewers in the 18-to-34 demo are women), has maintained steady ratings for close to two years as she holds a monopoly on the thritysomething working-woman demo in late-night.

Earlier this year, Handler and Brunelle launched their documentary-style sitcom After Lately for an eight-episode run. The weekly show followed the Chelsea Lately cast and crew re-enacting the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of the nightly talk show. One part fake, one part real, the premiere season drew more than 1 million viewers a week. E! has already ordered a second season.

Now, Handler also personally is financing an autobiographical documentary, which she hopes to take to the Toronto Film Festival, following her throughout the 2010 Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang stand-up tour (which grossed more than $16 million). The documentary captures a vulnerable Handler as she struggles with her breakup with Harbert (the comedian lies in bed and tells the camera she's texting her ex, "You're not the boss of me anymore"). Even though the documentary catches a visibly exhausted, makeup-free Handler curled under the sheets of her hotel room bed, she maintains that she does not suffer the usual comedian demons, nor professional insecurities. "When I was starting out and I didn't have my own show, yes, I was insecure," Handler explains. "But no, I'm not insecure now. Once you've achieved success and you're making decisions that are working, I don't understand why anyone would be second-guessing themselves."

?????

It's another day back at Handler's office. "I flew in from New York yesterday," she says, attempting to describe the ridiculousness of her office when she arrived. "I walked in, and three people were in cheerleading outfits and another was naked with tape over them."

Handler has moved from the desk and now is sitting on the couch across from me. She has traded her Jimmy Choos for Havaianas flip-flops and is visibly more relaxed and more comfortable with my presence, here on our third day together. Now that I've withstood a few blows, I'm seemingly worthy. She continues: "I said, 'Wow, this is great. This is exactly what I want my life to be like.' "

Even with the faint stain of sarcasm in her voice, she's being genuine. That is exactly what she wanted her life to be like. I slowly begin to understand her method. She'll test and poke. And if you have the guts to come back for more, she'll slowly begin to lift the curtain. She doesn't trust easily. But once you're in, you're in (just ask her staff, who benefited from an all-expenses-paid Cabo vacation last summer).

"It was nice meeting you," Handler says. Oddly formal, she sticks out her right hand as she heads toward her maroon Bentley.

What Handler's future holds is anyone's guess. She avoids comparisons to other female comedians, even Joan Rivers, who long ago also was criticized for raunchy humor and rough treatment of celebrities. When asked her thoughts about the Rivers documentary A Piece of Work, Handler says, "I thought, 'I hope I'm not doing stand-up at that age.' "

So what will it be? She makes it clear, whatever she does, she will do it her way. "I have really strong opinions; I'll never sell out," Handler says. "I'm not going to wake up one day and have a perfume. That's never going to happen." She adds, "It would smell like rubbing alcohol."
