If a scientists? newest discovery is to be believed, then the cup of green tea that you are having can do several benefits to you and your skin.
The claims of the team of researchers are talking about a new chemical extract that they have found in green tea and are suggesting that it is beneficial for the drinker?s skin because it has abilities to treat two types of skin cancer and that too without producing any of the side effects that are associated with chemotherapy.
The newest discovered compound by the researchers is epigallocatechin gallate (ECGg), which they claim is weaker to work but showed killing effects or shrinkage of two-thirds of cancer cells in a month?s time when they ran the experiment in the lab and applied the extract to the tumors.
Above are the findings of researchers from the universities of Strathclyde and Glasgow, which were published in the journal, Nanomedicine. It is for the first time that a study has shown evidences of such a tumor treatment from a green tea extract.
"These are very encouraging results which we hope could pave the way for new and effective cancer treatments?, lead researcher Dr. Christine Dufes said in a statement.
