Is this your first Christmas alone after divorce? Well, it doesn?t have to be lonely or sad. Make preparations ahead of time, and be sure to keep yourself busy throughout the holiday season. Organize everything so that you won?t get a chance to brood.
Don?t think about your ex-husband, what he?s going to do or who he is spending Christmas with. Focus on yourself. Make sure that you?re having a blast. Don?t allow resentment, anger and other negative thoughts about your ex interfere with your enjoyment.
Before the Christmas vacation, enjoy all the parties and events you?re invited to. You may also consider throwing a party of your own. Make it more enjoyable for you and your guests by making it a themed party.
Another option if you don?t want to be alone at Christmas is to go on a trip. You can take a singles cruise, either by yourself or with another single friend. There are tons of activities (nightlife, offshore excursions, etc.) being offered in cruises. This is an excellent idea you can consider if this is your first Christmas alone after divorce.
If you love the snow, then why not go skiing or snowboarding. There are a lot of ski resorts all over North America. But if snow gets you gloomy, you can choose to go where the bright lights are ? Las Vegas. People who don?t like spending Christmas alone go here. The city is filled with magnificent hotels and casinos, elegant restaurants, impressive shows and wild nightclubs. And let?s not forget about Elvis impersonators and endless buffet tables. You won?t get lonely in Vegas.
Alternatively, if you live a busy life, you can spend some quite time by yourself at home. Just make sure to stock the refrigerator with your favorite foods and drinks. Next, buy a read-worthy book or borrow some DVD movies. Slouch on your sofa and relax. Buy a self-indulgent gift like a new dress, shoes, perfume, etc. for yourself while you?re at it.
You may also consider having a house party with your other single friends. You can choose not to be all alone on Christmas. If they would just stay at home, and you would also do the same, why not get together. Have a Margarita party or a board game night, anything different.
Another Christmas for singles idea is by doing charity or volunteer work. Visit elderly people at nursing homes, or serve lunch or dinner at the homeless shelter. Whatever your plans are, just make sure to tell your children (if you have any) about them. Discuss holiday arrangements with your ex ahead of time. If your children would be spending Christmas with your ex, assure them that you would be fine. Also, make sure they?re pleased with the arrangements that have been set up for them. You see, you don?t have to spend your first Christmas alone after divorce feeling gloomy. There are tons of things you can do and places you can visit.
